The Assayers Foundation of British Columbia encourages assayer
training by awarding scholarships through the British Columbia Certified Assayers Program advisory council. In
2008, the Foundation gave a British Columbia Institute of Technology graduate achievement scholarship to Ms Patty Lin and trainee assayer scholarships to Ms
Sophie Li, Mr. Joseph Wu and Ms Dingquin (Nancy) Pan.
Mr. Wu supervises sample preparation and fire assaying at IPL Laboratories, Vancouver. Ms. Pan, who has worked for ALS Chemex, Vancouver for seven years becoming skilled in a wide range of mineral analytical and assaying techniques, has completed the BCIT assayer training course and has passed the BC Certified Assayers theory examination in December 2008. Ms Li worked for Acme Analytical Laboratories before joining Kemess Mines, Limited, in 2007 as an assayer. She has also completed the BCIT assayer training course and has passed the most recent BC Certified Assayers theory examination. The Assayers Foundation plan to award several scholarships in 2009 sponsored by the Canadian Mineral Analysts
